Being an eternal fan of von Unwerth's high contrast, grainy style, I find her contemporary efforts hit or miss. Also, it seems too often she simply plays the "shock card" to make the imagery edgy. Here it makes the mark. But with the comely Astrid Bergès-Frisbey in front of the lens, you are guaranteed something impressive. Lovely location here as well. And I never tire of distressed, deconstructed sets and furniture.
